Our First Local Secretary for Alaska

We ae delighted to welcome John May as our Local Secretary for Alaska.

John currently works for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System’s Ship Escort Response Vessel System. He previously served as a Merchant Marine Officer, sailing in all positions of the deck department, including Master, aboard oil tankers, military auxiliary vessels, and articulated tub/barges. Masonically, he is a Past Master and the current Secretary of Valdez Lodge No. 4 under the Grand Lodge of Alaska; holds membership in the Grand Lodge of Maryland’s Concordia Lodge No.13 and Washington Lodge No.3, and the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon’s Yukon Lodge No.45; and is a founding member of Alaska’s first research lodge – Academia Lux Borealis – where he is currently Lodge Secretary. John is also a Past Grand Master of Alaska, the current Grand Treasurer, and serves on various committees for the Grand Lodge of Alaska. Alongside, John is a member of multiple side orders, including the York Rite and Allied Masonic Degrees, and currently serves as the Personal Representative of the Deputy of the Supreme Council for Alaska, Valdez Club, for the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, in which he is a 32°, Knight Commander of the Court of Honour.
